Our logo uses shapes, angles, and intersecting lines taken directly from the design on the walls of the Beit Knesset. These geometric patterns are inspired by a map of the Land of Israel drawn by Rashi in the eleventh century and displayed at the entrance to our Beit Knesset. The four blue shapes and hues represent the four divisions (Early Childhood, Lower School, Middle School, and High School) that come together to form the Abraham Joshua Heschel School. The white lines and negative space in the logo symbolize the multiple and intersecting paths that students explore on their Heschel journeys.

Our logo’s illuminated triangle reflects the Ner Tamid (Eternal Light) that glows above the Beit Knesset’s Aron Kodesh (Ark).  The Ner Tamid, a symbol in Jewish prayer spaces around the world, represents the constant divine light that shines on our Torah scrolls and our holy space.

Our logo’s shapes and colors reflect our community’s common commitments and also our pluralism. The logo reflects the differences among us, as well as the ways that Heschel brings us together to form a unique, beautiful, cohesive community.
